GhostBSD 23.10.1 Released: A Desktop-oriented FreeBSD Distribution
GhostsBSD, a FreeBSD-based desktop-oriented distribution, has announced the release of GhostBSD 23.10.1. This latest version is built on the basis of FreeBSD 13-Stable and features the user-friendly Mate environment. GhostBSD utilizes the ZFS file system as its default choice. Users have the option to either run GhostBSD in a Live mode or perform a complete installation on their hard drive using Ginstall’s own Python-based installer. In this release, GhostBSD 23.10.1 introduces several noteworthy improvements and updates:
- The NetworkMgr configurator now supports manual installation of static IP addresses and DNS server parameters, enhancing its configurability.
- The Software Station application manager now includes a window with descriptions for each package, improving the user experience.
- The base composition now includes the packages Graphics/Qgis-Ltr and Graphics/Qgis, providing users with the free qgis geographic information system.
- The OS-GENERIC-Userland-DEVTools package has been removed from the base delivery, reducing the Live-image size by 200 MB.
- An update manager has been implemented with an indicator of progress, facilitating the checking of update availability.
- GhostBSD is now synchronized with the FreeBSD 13-Stable branch, ensuring the latest improvements and security updates are included.
