China’s new plan of action, unveiled at the third forum for cooperation “Belt and the Way” in Beijing, places great focus on science and technology. This comes as Western countries impose more restrictions on the export of key technologies.
Chinese President Xi Jinping believes that his vision of the “belt and path” initiative can offer solutions to overcome technological and innovative challenges. He emphasized China’s opposition to “unilateral sanctions” and disruptions in the supply chain.
In his speech, Xi Jinping stressed the significance of “promoting scientific and technological innovations” through cooperation with other participating countries. The action plan involves leveraging the markets and talents of these nations for technological advancement.
One key aspect of the action plan is to double the number of joint scientific laboratories between China and the countries involved in the belt and path initiative over the next five years. These laboratories will specialize in areas such as health, new energy, and agriculture.
Furthermore, as part of its collaboration efforts, China continues to support young researchers by offering them opportunities to work on short-term projects in the country.
During his speech at the forum, Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed his belief that the “Belt and the Way” initiative can contribute to finding “collective and truly effective solutions” to international problems.
