In the past two days, the Israeli power supply infrastructure has fallen victim to a hacker attack carried out by a group called “Cyber Avengers”. As a result, there have been widespread power outages.
The “Cyber Avengers” group, on Tuesday evening, claimed responsibility for hacking into the electric distribution centers in the cities of Nacharia and Yavna. They even published an official statement from the Israeli regulatory body of the electric power industry, which falsely attributed the power outages to technical malfunctions.
Furthermore, the group managed to penetrate the servers of the regulatory body for electric power and released videos showing the replacement of damaged infrastructure.
Just last week, there was a cyberattack on the ORPAK fuel company management station in Palestinian territories, resulting in the disconnection of 200 gasoline pumps from the system.
The Cyber Avengers group also claimed responsibility for this attack, causing operational failures in 200 gasoline pumps. As a result, several gas stations in Tel Aviv and Haifa had to close temporarily due to the inability to service the pumps.
