Slackel 7.7 has been released, featuring a combination of the developments from the projects Slackware and Salix. The release is fully compatible with the repositories of these projects. The graphic environment of Slackel 7.7 is based on the OpenBox window manager. The bootable image size for Live-mode usage is 2.7 GB, available for both i386 and x86_64 architectures.
This new release of Slackel is synchronized with the current version of Slackware and comes with the Linux 6.1.57 kernel. Various programs have been updated, including Firefox 118.0.2, Thunderbird 115.3.2, Exaile 4.1.1, Smtube 21.10.0, SMPlayer 23.6.0, MPlayer 20221009, Libreoffice 7.6.2, Filezilla 3.65.0, Pidgin 2.14.12, Tran smission 2.94, GIMP 2.10.34, and Openjre 19.0.2.u7. Additionally, the project has introduced new versions of its own applications, such as Instonusb 2.0 for creating Live Books, Slackel Control-Center 3.0 configurator, as well as graphic interfaces for updating the kernel using both internal disk (Install-UPGRADE-KERNEL) and external USB carrier (Install-UPGRADE-KERNEL-EXT-USB).
