The California Technology Institute has made the decision to end its long-term lawsuit against Apple and Broadcom, which began in 2016 over patent infringement related to Wi-Fi technology. According to reports, this decision comes approximately two months after the parties reached a “potential settlement”.
In a document filed in the US District Court of California, Caltech announced that it would be dismissing its claims “with prejudice,” which means that the institute will not be able to file a lawsuit regarding this matter again. The document also reveals that Broadcom does not oppose this resolution. Additionally, Caltech is requesting that all upcoming claims against Apple be dropped.
It is worth mentioning that earlier this year, Caltech reached a settlement in a similar lawsuit with Samsung. According to Reuters, the institute has also filed patent claims against other companies like Microsoft, Dell, and HP.
