Schools in Israel warn parents about the need to delete Tiktok, Instagram and other social networks from children’s mobile phones. This is due to fears about the publication of Hamas video with hostages that are killed. Since the beginning of the Hamas attacks on the weekend, violent videos have already begun to spread on the platforms.
Users report messages from Jewish schools in which parents are asked to limit the use of social networks by children due to the spread of anxious content. According to BBC, there is a fear that such materials can cause stress in children.
One of the messages says: “Dear parents, we became aware that soon a video with hostages begun to life will be published. Please delete Tiktok and Instagram from your children mobile phones.”
Such warnings are spreading around the world, including the USA and the UK. For example, the director of The Frisch School in New Jersey also sent such warnings. According to The Times of Israel, in a letter from the school principal, Rabbi Eli Qinner, it says: “Local psychologists addressed us with information that the Israeli government strongly recommends that parents ask children to remove Instagram and Tiktok. We strongly advise our students to do this as soon as possible “.
Some users believe that the Council to Delete social networks from children’s phones is good, regardless of the situation.
Earlier, the European Union sent a letter to Ilon Mask, the owner of the social platform, warning that the platform allows you to disseminate illegal content and disinformation.
Criticism of social networks is growing on both sides. For some, the struggle against anxious images of hostages or military events is considered as censorship.
After the unexpected attacks of Hamas, at least 1.200 people were killed, and thousands were injured, according to CNN. According to some reports, up to 150 people can be taken hostage.
