A new release of the P2P VPN 0.11.3 has recently taken place. P2P VPN is an implementation of a decentralized virtual private network that operates on the principle of Peer-to-Peer, where participants are directly connected to each other instead of using a central server. Participants can find each other through a Bittorrent tracker or Bittorrent DHT, or through other network participants using Peer Exchange. This application, written in Java with separate components in SI, is a free and open analogue of the vpn hamachi and is released under the GNU LGPL 3.0 license.
The latest release, 0.11.3, includes several changes and improvements:
- Support for different designs has been added, including light and dark themes.
- Native tray and notification support has been implemented for Linux OS using Libnotify and Libayatana-Appendicator3.
- The ability to display delays (ping) for participants connected through other participants has been added.
- A new “–headless” mode has been introduced, allowing the application to be used without a graphic interface.
- The option to generate an access file, export closed networks, and create new networks with data stored in INI format has been added without using a graphic interface.
- A bug with the closing button in the “Add Black List” (Ban Peer) heading has been fixed to ensure it works correctly as a button.
- A code that could potentially lead to a descriptor leak when working with files has been fixed.
- A new function to limit the speed of accepting traffic has been added.
Overall, this new release brings significant updates and improvements to the P2P VPN, enhancing the user experience and further establishing it as a reliable decentralized virtual private network solution.
