On Monday, the European Commission (EC) began conducting exercises to counteract large-scale cyber attacks. The exercises, called Blue OLEX 2023, are being attended by representatives of high-level cybersecurity experts from EU member states, the European Commission, and the European Union for Network and Information Security (Enisa). The two-day exercises aim to test the EU’s readiness in the event of a cyber crisis, according to the media. These exercises are part of the EU-CYCLONE (Cyber Crime Liaison Organising Network), which serves as a network of European national organizations responsible for combating cybercrime. The EU-CYCLONE network aims to enhance the existing cybersecurity structures at the EU level and facilitate the implementation of the European Commission’s action plan for a swift response to large-scale incidents or cross-border cybersecurity crises. During the exercises, participants will also discuss strategic aspects of cyber policy, focusing on the formation of a coherent crisis management structure at the EU level. |
