Windows 10/11 users will not be able to delete the Windows Backup application, as it is now considered an integral part of the operating system, according to Microsoft developers. They consider it a “system component” that cannot be removed from the OS. (Source: Microsoft Support)
Recently, the Windows Backup application has become mandatory for all Windows 10 and Windows 11 users, even for those who are unable to use it due to corporate restrictions.
In order to use the Windows Backup application, users need a Microsoft account. This means that users with Azure Active Directory (AAD) and Active Directory (AD) cannot utilize the Windows Backup application to back up their data.
Microsoft’s support service has acknowledged the problems faced by system administrators and users regarding this new system component that cannot be removed or used in certain situations. Consequently, Microsoft developers are planning to release a fix that will hide the application in the interfaces of Windows 10 Pro, Education, and Enterprise, as well as Windows 11 using AAD and AD. Essentially, the Windows Backup application will still be present in the system, but users will not have visibility of it. (Source: Neowin)
