Hackers Compromise Official Facebook Page, Post Bizarre Messages
October 6 – The official page of Facebook was hacked, with scammers posting strange messages on behalf of the platform, grabbing the attention of social media users. Politicians and celebrities have previously fallen victim to such hacks, with scammers using their accounts to spread false information.
One of the messages on the hacked page demanded the release of former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan, who was arrested in August 2023. Another post criticized the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) for not granting visas to Pakistani fans for the World Cup matches in Crystet.
The Daily Mail was the first to report on the incident and claimed that several posts had already been made before Facebook detected the hack. The social network promptly deleted all the messages and released an official statement acknowledging the compromise of the page.
This is not the first time that official Facebook accounts have been hacked. In 2014, an Egyptian hacker successfully removed Mark Zuckerberg’s photo covers from his personal account. Facebook is expected to provide further information regarding this recent incident.
It is worth noting that the activities of META and its products are deemed extremist and prohibited in the territory of the Russian Federation.
