The developers of Linux Mint have announced the release of a new ISO-image called “Edge”. This image is based on the Linux Mint 21.2 release from July and includes the Linux 6.2 kernel instead of the standard 5.15 kernel. The Edge ISO-image also brings back support for UEFI Secureboot mode.
This new release is specifically targeted towards users with newer hardware who have been experiencing issues with the installation and booting of Linux Mint 21.2. These issues were primarily caused by the use of the 5.15 kernel branch, which was introduced in the fall of 2021 and is also used in Ubuntu 22.04 LTS. To address this, Linux Mint 21.2 now includes the 6.2 kernel, which was sourced from Ubuntu distribution 22.22.3 and labeled from the Ubuntu issue 23.04.
