Wolvic 1.5 Unveils Virtual Reality Web Browser

Wolvic has published the release of the Web-browser Wolvic 1.5 designed for use in supplemented and virtual reality systems. The project continues the development of the browser Firefox Reality, previously developed by Mozilla. After the stagnation of the code base for Firefox Reality, Igalia continued its development, known for its participation in free projects such as GNOME, GTK, WebKitgtk, Epiphany, GStreamer, Wine, Mesa, and Freedesktop.org. The Wolvic code is written in Java and C++, and spreads under the license mplv2. Ready assemblies have been formed for the Android platform. The browser also works with 3D hollows of Oculus, Huawei VR Glass, Lenovo VRX, Lenovo A3, HTC Vive Focus, Pico Neo, Pico4, Meta Quest Pro, and Lynx (a browser for Qualcomm).

The browser uses the Web-engine gecoview, which is an option of the Mozilla Gecko engine. It is designed in the form of a separate library that can be updated independently. Management is carried out through a fundamentally different three-dimensional user interface that allows users to navigate websites within the virtual world or as part of augmented reality systems. In addition to the 3D interface, Web developers can use the Webxr, Webar, and WebVR APIs to create specialized three-dimensional web applications with interaction taking place in a virtual space. The browser also supports viewing 360-degree spatial videos shot in 3D.
