News Report: Roskomnadzor Develops Methodological Recommendations for Ensuring Security
In response to the growing threats of security, Roskomnadzor, the Russian federal executive body responsible for overseeing communications, began developing methodological recommendations to counter potential threats targeting key structures and main communication lines. The news was reported by “Kommersant” publication.
The new document outlines the collaboration between regional bodies of Roskomnadzor and significant communication operators to simulate various emergency scenarios, including the destruction of important infrastructure, damage to communication lines, and complete power outages. The objective of this process is to create an action plan that ensures network security and restoration, even during periods of martial law.
To carry out these simulations, special working groups will be established, consisting of representatives from communication operators, Roskomnadzor, and other relevant state agencies.
Of particular focus is the protection against attacks on infrastructure, prompted by incidents such as the recent drone attack on MTS facilities in Krasnodar. To prevent similar incidents in the future, the introduction of anti-drone systems is being considered.
Minzifra, the Ministry of Digital Development, Communications, and Mass Media of the Russian Federation, is actively engaged in discussing security issues and holding consultations with participants in the data center market. According to a source from one of the companies involved, a meeting was held earlier this summer to discuss various methods of protecting data centers, including the use of anti-drone rifles and physical building protection. This discussion took place prior to the drone attacks on Moscow City.
These measures aim to secure the reliable and stable operation of key elements within the country’s infrastructure in the face of increasing security threats.
