LTS Lawyer Linux Support Term Reduced, Burnout Problem Addressed

Linux nucleus developers intend to limit themselves to a two-year update release cycle for lts-vita Linux nuclei. Currently, the LTS Veteok has a support period of 2 years, but over the past five years, the update release period has been extended to 6 years due to demand and support from industry representatives.

However, there is a decreasing interest in using old LTS-Jader, with most users transitioning to newer LTS branches within 6 years. This excessive period has led to a burden on support personnel who are continuously working on backwood corrections. The monotony of constant error correction, Fuzzing testing, and reviewing changes has caused developers to lose interest in their work, leading to burnout.

Despite the support of corporations, the majority of Linux nucleus developers are unpaid volunteers. Only around 200 out of 2000 active developers receive payment for their work.

The divergence of Linux nucleus branches from the main core and their reliance on individual suppliers is a significant problem. This issue arises when distributions, such as Red Hat Enterprise Linux, use core bags based on outdated versions of the nucleus with patched changes.

The Android platform’s model of nucleus support is considered more effective. It involves transferring all changes from the main core and developing necessary innovations within the main core, rather than maintaining a separate nucleus version with Android-specific changes. This model provides better security, as the connection between corrections and the elimination of potential safety issues is not always obvious with selective transfer of corrections. With the complete transfer of changes, vulnerabilities are often resolved before information regarding the vulnerability is even revealed.
