Australia to Construct Six Cybersescents for National Security

Australian Minister Announces Creation of “Six Cybershields” as Part of National Cybersecurity Strategy

Australian Minister of Internal Affairs, Claire O’Neill, has announced the creation of “Six Cybershields around the Nation” as part of the national cybersecurity strategy.

The strategy includes six key directions, namely:

  1. Education for citizens and businesses about existing online threats
  2. Development of safe technologies
  3. Exchange of information about cyber risks between the state and businesses
  4. Critical infrastructure protection
  5. Creation of capabilities in the field of information security
  6. International cooperation

The education aspect of the strategy aims to inform businesses and citizens about potential threats on the Internet and provide them with affordable protective equipment. The development of “safe technologies” will ensure compliance with clear global standards for digital security. Minister O’Neill emphasized that new products will be designed with safety in mind from the very beginning of their creation.

The exchange of information about cyber risks will allow for a quick response to new threats and enable their prevention before any real harm is caused. Critical infrastructure protection will primarily be achieved through the enhancement of state digital defense.

The creation of capabilities in the field of cybersecurity involves the establishment of a prosperous cyber ecosystem and the attraction of young professionals to this field. International cooperation aims to strengthen partnerships with neighboring states and facilitate the exchange of experiences to enhance cybersecurity bilaterally.

The Six Cybershields strategy is planned to be fully implemented by 2030, with the expectation that Australia will become a world leader in all areas of cybersecurity.
