Torbjörn Granlund, the creator of the mathematical library GNU GMP (GNU Multiple Precision Arithmetic Library) has warned users about the blocking of access to the servers that support the project repository for the entire range of IP addresses of Microsoft.
The blocking happened due to DOS-Attack, where thousands of typical requests were continuously being sent to the repository from several hundred IP addresses belonging to Microsoft networks. It is yet unclear whether the attack is emanating from Microsoft’s cloud servers, which can be rented by anyone or from Microsoft’s own servers. As the observed activity was causing significant slowing down of developer access to the repository, all Microsoft IP addresses have been blocked on the inter-grid screen as a temporary solution.
