Mincifers to Set Guidelines for Combat Techniques

Russia’s Ministry of Council has created a new working group that will determine how to combat drones that interfere with mobile communications, Wi-Fi, industrial systems, and the electronics of national power structures. A report by Izvestia says the team consists of members from the State Commission on Radio Frequency, the fuel and energy complex, the national radio astration, the National Radio Engineering Bureau, the operators and development of the RES. The group will determine how to use electronic suppression to combat the issue.

The problem is so widespread it is not only law enforcement agencies that use the technology, but municipal authorities and significant enterprises as well. Purchasing decisions made at the municipal level in some regions of Russia are causing interference to mobile internet.

Drone owners’ inadvertent use or installation of drones with incorrect drivers, as well as the widespread use of 2.4 GHz routers, are also having an impact. In addition, wireless control and security systems, as well as industrial equipment, are also being impacted, warns one source.

Devices like antronron systems have experienced considerable growth in demand from both organisations and individuals, with devices available on sites such as Yandex.Market and retailing for between RUB130,000 ($1,687) and several million rubles. However, technically blocking cellular connections for drones while not affecting cellular communications on the ground is extremely challenging, warns another insider.

The best solution to the problem would be the establishment of a comprehensive air traffic control system for drones, with violators automatically detected, according to one expert in radio frequencies. The creation of such a system would be challenging and costly. Therefore, regulation of drones for the time being seems to be the most feasible solution until such time as a comprehensive system becomes a reality.
