SUSE has unveiled the distribution of SUSE Linux Enterprise 15 SP5 after a year of development. The latest release is based on platforms such as SUSE Linux Enterprise Server, SUSE LINUX ENTERPRISE Desktop, Suse Manager, and SUSE Linux Enterprise High-Performance Computing. Users can upload and use the distribution for free, but access to updates and corrections is limited by a 60-day test period. The distribution is available in assemblies for architectures Aarch64, PPC64le, S390X, and X86_64.
The SUSE Linux Enterprise 15 SP5 allows for complete binary compatibility of packages with the Opensuse LEAP 15.5 distributed community. Binary packages with the SUSE Linux Enterprise are used in OpenSUSE, instead of re-reducing SRC packets, which achieves a high level of compatibility. Users can first form and test the working solution using Opensuse and then switch to the commercial version of the SUSE Linux with full support, SLA, certification, long-term release of updates, and extended means for mass implementation without complications.
Basic changes in the desktop environment have been updated to GNOME 41, Mesa 22.3.5, and GTK 4.6. The distribution also includes updated packages, such as Libreoffice 7.4.3, Firefox 102.11.0, Thunderbird 102.11.0, VIM 9.0, updated versions of graphic drivers, GCC 11.3, Pipewire 0.3.64, GStreamer 1.22, MDADM 4.2, Flatpaks 1.14.4, NetworkManager 1.38.6, DPDK 19.11.10, systemd 249.12, Bluez 5.65, Samba 4.17.7.7, Qemu, Xen 4.17, Mariadb 10.6.12, PostgreSQL 15.3, SQLITE 3.39, GO 1.5.0, Rust 1.69, PHP 8.0.28, 389-DS 2.2.6, ALSA 1.2.8, BIND9.16.38, BINUTILS 2.39, Bubblewrap 0.7.0, Docker 10.10.23, RUNC 1.1.5, Podman 4.4.4, Virt-Manager 4.1.0, Libvirt 9.0.0, Containerd 1.6.19, and Postfix 3.7.2.
