Specialized distribution Tails 5.14, which is based on the Debian package base and is designed for anonymous exit to the network, has been released. Tails provides anonymous exit through the Tor system and blocks all connections except traffic via the Tor network by the default packet filter. Encryption is used to store user data in the mode of conservation of user data between launches. The ISO-image, capable of working in Live-mode, is available for download and is 1.2 GB in size.
The new version of Tails (5.14) has some significant updates. The existing constant and encrypted LUKS1 sections are now automatically translated to the LUKS2 format, which uses more reliable cryptographic algorithms. The previous encryption parameters at LUKS1, which could be compromised using special equipment with physical access to the device, are no longer used. The installer now has the option to create a full backup of the permanent storage.
Tails 5.14 also includes automatic determination of the network connection via Captive Portal when setting up an automatic connection to Tor, and the Tor Browser has been updated to version 12.0.7. The interface for working with a constant repository has been modernized. The constant storage button is replaced by the switch, and descriptions of individual extended capabilities of the permanent storage have been returned.
In the new version of the Tor Browser (12.0.7), synchronization with the code base Firefox 102.12 ESR has been completed, which eliminates 11 vulnerabilities. Additionally, the version of the addition Noscript 11.4.22 is included.
