FCIV.NET creates 3D Freeciv game

Project FCIV.NET is working to develop a 3D version of the popular step-by-step strategic game, Freeciv. The gameplay in Freeciv resembles the popular Civilization series of games. The 3D version of Freeciv can be launched in a web-browser that supports HTML5 and WebGL 2. It’s possible to play the game in both multi-user mode and individual rivalry with bots.

FCIV.NET is continuing to develop the code base of the project Freeciv-web, but differs in its use of webgl and 3D engine three.js, and offers advanced capabilities such as the AI Assistant based on ChatGPT. The project code is distributed under the AGPLV3 license.

Some of the advanced features of FCIV.NET’s 3D version of Freeciv can be seen in the screenshots provided on their website. The first screenshot shows a trireme sailing on the ocean, and the second screenshot shows a city with several in-game elements and features.

Players who enjoy turn-based strategy games like Civilization and have an interest in 3D versions of these types of games will want to check out FCIV.NET’s development of the 3D version of Freeciv. It offers both familiar game experiences and new innovative features.
