TrueNAS, a distribution aimed at simplifying network storage deployment, has launched Core 13.0-u5. The release is a continuation of the FreeNAS project and is based on the FreeBSD 13 code base. TrueNAS Core 13.0-u5 comes with integrated ZFS support and a DJango Python Framer-based web interface. It offers various protocols, including FTP, NFS, Samba, AFP, RSYNC, and ISCSI for storage access, and a software RAID (0.1.5) to increase storage reliability. It also offers LDAP/Active Directory support to authorize clients. The ISO-image for the release, sized at 1 GB (x86_64), is available for download. In parallel, TrueNAS Scale is being developed, which uses Linux instead of FreeBSD.
The main changes in TrueNAS Core 13.0-u5 include determining the ACPI flag ‘unarmed’ for non-volatile dual in-line memory module (NVDIMM) memory, providing the possibility of maintaining the output of the MPRUTIL utility for all connected Host Bus Adapter (HBA), ensuring direct reading of extended attributes of files when forming an SMB2 Aapl Readirattr response, showing statistics about NVDIMM operations, providing a new firmware version for NVDimm Micron 16GB 2666, and fixing around 60 errors, including those related to NFS, SMB, and replication.
TrueNAS users can now upgrade their distribution to benefit from the high-quality storage experience provided by TrueNAS Core 13.0-u5.
