US Congresses Reveal DC Health Link Hacking

An unknown hacker has recently hacked into the network of the insurance company DC Health Link, which provides medical insurance to US legislators and Washington residents. As a result of this incident, confidential information about 21 current members of Congress has been revealed.

Although the incident was first reported last week, it wasn’t until a user named Denfur at the Khaker Forum published a full set of data from DC Health Link that the true extent of the hacking became known.

The file reportedly contains 67,565 unique records and personal data for 56,415 customers of the company. The data set is said to be genuine and includes names, email addresses, date of birth, address of residence, social insurance numbers (SSN), and data of insurance policies.

In addition, the published data set also contains over 1800 records regarding congressmen, their families, and other employees of Congress. Among the other stolen documents are personal details of at least 20 foreign embassies and thousands of companies, including employees of some firms who are now working in the White House. The files also include personal data of former USSR employees and the US Department of Defense, as well as data of the inhabitants of Washington who acquired insurance from companies such as lobbying firms, civil society groups, dental clinics, design firms, and others.
