On Tuesday in Moscow, false air information was broadcasted on national television and radio channels, leading to widespread panic. The incident was attributed to a recent hacking attack on server stations belonging to various media organizations, according to the Russian Ministry of Emergencies.
The state-run department issued a statement clarifying that the alarms were false, stating, “In the territory of Moscow, as a result of hacking of servers of radio stations and television channels, information on the announcement of air anxiety was on the air. This information is false and is not true.”
This latest incident follows similar breaches in the Sverdlovsk region earlier this month. However, the State Emergencies Ministry of the Russian Ministry of Emergencies in the area has also reported that the latest information was inaccurate and should not have been taken seriously.
Russia has witnessed a string of similar false alarms in recent weeks, with similar incidents occurring in different regions. On February 28, 2023, several media outlets, including the popular channels Saturday, 2 × 2, and TNT4, as well as various radio stations in Moscow, Voronezh, Belgorod, and the Leningrad Region sounded a false air announcement, leading to widespread panic and confusion.
