Parisian fashion house Coperni has teamed up with robotics innovator Boston Dynamics to present its new Fall-Winter 23 collection at Paris Fashion Week. Inspired by the fable of Jean de La Fontaine “Wolf and Lamb,” the collection reimagines the tale from the 17th century and blurs the lines between social classes. The fashion show aims to showcase “symbiotic relations” between humans and machines with the vision that they can live together in harmony with no dominant or subordinate roles.
The event itself was a spectacle of modern technology, with five robot dogs emerging at the start of the show and walking alongside the models on the runway. In one of the show’s memorable moments, one of the robots helped a model undo a jacket, and in another, it lent the model its handbag.
The show has received both praise and criticism on social media. Some argue that “humanization” of robots like those displayed at the show is a dangerous step, while others are amazed by the innovation and artistic showcase. In response, Coperni has stated that the collaboration with Boston Dynamics is a positive representation of innovation and technology.
Overall, the Coperni and Boston Dynamics collaboration during Paris Fashion Week has undoubtedly opened new doors for creativity and innovation in the fashion industry.
