Three months after the disappearance of a couple in Deux-Sèvres, the investigation accelerated on Thursday, March 2, with the indictment of a friend of the couple, while two other men are in care on sight. Leslie Hoorelbeke, 22, and Kevin Trumat, 21, have not given any sign of life since the night of November 25 to 26 in Prahecq, a bourg of 2,000 inhabitants near Niort. A young woman’s dog has also vanished.

A man was indicted for “kidnapping and forcible confinement not followed by a voluntary release” and placed in pre -trial detention, the Poitiers prosecutor’s office announced Thursday evening in a press release, without mentioning a possible mobile. This man in his twenties had been arrested Tuesday in Vendée at the home of his father, who was searched, like that of his mother in Deux-Sèvres. Friend of the disappeared, he had to host them in a house in Prahecq the night of their disappearance.

“He always had the keys to my home”

According to the public prosecutor in Poitiers, Cyril Lacombe, who had opened a criminal investigation in late December 2022, two other men are heard in Niort by the gendarmes responsible for the investigation.

On January 5, the suspect in practice participated in a hunt organized in Prahecq by the family of Kevin Deputat and had mentioned the evening of disappearance in front of journalists. “Kevin always had the keys to my house. I lived more at home, I lived in a truck. They came with 5:30 p.m., we saw each other. They had the potato, we laughed well together. Then I went to my brother and a techno evening, “he said, adding that he did not believe in a voluntary disappearance of the couple.

Subsequently, his mother had attested from his innocence in the press, ensuring that, on Friday evening, his son “participated in a rave party in the crèche”, about fifteen kilometers to the north, and that he had not returned to Prahecq before Sunday. Problem: the young man’s telephone communications statement showed that he came back to see his friends in the village during the evening and that he had exchanged messages with Leslie Hoorelbeke until late at night.

“Practically 10,000 euros on him”

A second man, arrested Wednesday during custody of the first suspect, is from Puyravault, in Charente-Maritime. It was in this village, on December 8, that cases belonging to the disappeared couple, including a hair brush of the young woman and a road safety certificate of her companion, had been found in a container of recycling of clothing. According to Western Courier , his phone and that of Intendant have “limited” in the same places and at the same time the night of disappearance. His police custody has been extended by twenty-four hours, said the prosecution.

A third person, aged 23 and “in conjunction” with the indictment, has also been placed in police custody since Thursday morning, according to the prosecutor, who has not revealed the place of his arrest.

During the battery of January 5 in Prahecq, Kevin’s mother-in-law said to journalists that he “had practically 10,000 euros on him” on the evening of his disappearance, a sum that she had her Bring to Prahecq, according to her “to buy a car”. She too had dismissed the idea of a voluntary disappearance of the couple. The relatives of Leslie Hoorelbeke never believed there either: “confinement and kidnapping, it is our conviction from the start”, they told AFP in January.
