Chinese researchers from the University of Space Technology of the People’s Liberation Army in Beijing say that they plan to create a large network of constellations consisting of 12,992 satellites to compete with Starlink Ilon Mask.
Researchers argue that a low-organ network similar to Starlink will provide Internet services to users around the world. It is noteworthy that Chinese satellites will be intended for detection, identification, tracking and cataloging of data related to each satellite Starlink.
Moreover, satellites will be equipped with artificial intelligence, including lasers and powerful microwaves developed to destroy Starlink satellites, which are over China and other sensitive regions.
The project, owned by the recently created China Satellite Network Group, is held under the code name “GW”
Starlink has already disclosed its plans to increase the satellite network to 12,000 by 2027 and mentioned 42,000 in a later date. The Chinese plan is to quickly expand the GW satellite group and beat off all places for low -orbit satellites in the near -Earth space.
According to the research group, this advantage may also allow them to expand the satellites on orbits, to which “Starlink has not yet reached.”
The Chinese government also promotes the idea of creating a coalition against Starlink with other countries to force SpaceX to disclose confidential information about the location of its companions. Currently, Starlink consists of more than 3,500 satellites, providing the Internet about a million people around the world.
