The American singer R. Kelly, a fallen star of the R’n’B, was sentenced Thursday, February 23, to a sentence of twenty years in prison for child pornography before a federal court in Chicago. This sentence will not add up to that of thirty years he received in June 2022 in New York for sexual crimes, judge Harry Leinenweber having ordered that he only performs an additional year of prison when he will have purged his previous conviction.
Robert Sylvester Kelly, 56, had been found guilty by a federal jury of Chicago of child pornography and diversion of minor. Extracts from videos showing sexual violence committed by R. Kelly on young girls, one of whom was only 14 years old, had been broadcast during the trial.

The singer had however been acquitted for accusations of obstruction of justice. He was criticized for having disrupted the course of a previous child porn trial in 2008, from which he was not guilty, threatening a victim so that he did not testify.
