The former minister and ex-deputy of the Socialist Party (PS), Jean Le Garrec, died at the age of 92, announced, Sunday, February 19, the PS federation of the North in a press release
Jean Le Garrec successively held several posts of secretary of state and one of Minister, within the governments of Pierre Mauroy and Laurent Fabius, between 1981 and 1986, recall the socialists of the North. He was notably responsible for implementing the policy of nationalizations in the aftermath of François Mitterrand’s victory, but also planning, employment or public service.
He was also a regional councilor of Nord Pas-de-Calais and deputy from North from 1981 to 1993 in Cambraisis, then from 1997 to 2007 on the coast; Occupying the functions of chairman of the Commission for Finance and Cultural, Family and Social Affairs in the National Assembly.
