FIFA: bonus of 1.66 million euros for Gianni Infantino

According to the 2022 annual report of the International Federation – which has a record turnover -, the overall remuneration (including premiums) of its president has climbed to 3.62 million euros annually.

In 2016, a few months after his election to the presidency of the International Football Association Federation (FIFA), Gianni Infantino had found “insulting” the ceiling of his fixed gross salary, during his talks with the subcommittee of organization’s remuneration. Since then, the remuneration of the Italian-Swiss boss of world football has skyrocketed, thanks, in particular, to the bonuses which have been granted to it.

According to the FIFA 2022 annual report, the overall annual remuneration (bonuses included and before taxes) of the manager amounts to 3.6 million Swiss francs (3.62 million euros). Following the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, Mr. Infantino will receive, in 2023, a bonus of 1.66 million euros – between 2021 and 2022, his annual bonus had increased by 626,000 euros. In addition to the “lump sum allowances” and other advantages granted by FIFA, its annual basic gross salary amounts to 1,969 million euros. By way of comparison, Mr. Infantino had received a bonus of just under 840,000 euros after the 2018 edition of the World Cup in Russia.

“Like all its employees, FIFA contributes to social charges, pension fund, accident insurance and other Swiss benefits for the president and the secretary general,” said FIFA in his report from 2022.

The secretary general of FIFA, Fatma Samoura, saw her annual bonus double between 2021 and 2022: he reached 606,000 euros. His overall annual salary (bonuses included) was 1.918 million euros in 2022. In 2016, when they arrived at the head of the International Federation, Nor Mr. Infantino or M me samoura were granted by bonuses. Their overall annual salary was then respectively 1.528 million euros and 845,000 euros. In 2015, the salary of the ex-president of FIFA, Sepp Blatter, was estimated at 3.2 million euros and that of the former general general, Jérôme Valcke, at 1.87 million euros .

As for the members of the FIFA Council, including the President of the French Football Federation (FFF), Noël Le Graët, they receive, in addition euros) annuals. Vice-presidents of the body affect 300,000 dollars annually.

FIFA announced a record turnover of $ 7.6 billion after the 2019-2022 commercial cycle. Its reserves amounted to $ 3.97 billion at the end of 2022. For the 2023-2026 cycle, FIFA anticipated income, excluding club world cups, of 11 billion dollars.
