The Russian hacker from the city of Harabali managed to avoid real conclusions for extortion using DDOS attacks. The 29-year-old man received conditional punishment in the form of three years in prison.
According to the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the hacker was found guilty of unlawful access to computer information protected by law, as well as the creation and use of malicious computer programs.
According to the investigation, in the summer of 2021, the attacker decided to use fraudulent methods to receive money. He found sites of large companies on the Internet and, using a malicious program, carried out DDOS attacks on the resource chosen by him within 3-4 days, which led to its lock. After that, the man contacted representatives of the companies and offered to stop his harmful actions for money. However, the man failed to receive a reward, since he was detained.
The court sentenced the man to 3 years in prison. The decision has entered into force.
