Six nations tournament: Scotland continues and dominates Wales

After his victory in England, the XV of the Chardon signed a second consecutive success by bringing the country of Wales to fall (35-7), thanks to a decisive finn Russell.

The French team is warned. After being beaten by Ireland (32-19), the Blues have two weeks to prepare for the reception at the Stade de France of a large-form Scotland team: the XV of the Chardon achieved a splendid performance to largely take The top on Wales, Saturday February 11 (35-7). The Ecossais thus followed a second success in as many matches in the Six Nations tournament – after having imposed themselves in England – and set up at the top of the ranking with the same number of points as Ireland (10).

In the twentieth e century, Scotland had become the wrong habit of being more often a storage in the six-nations tournament than a real nation that counts. The situation has been changing for a few seasons. Large of the label of “magnificent losers”, the men of coach Gregor Townsend did not wait long to take the advantage against Wales. After two penalties of Finn Russell (9 e and 16 e ), they accelerated in the wake of their forwards. On a ball worn, George Turner was extracting his head first to drive the defense of the XV of the leek and mark the first try of the match (33 e ).

If the Scottish hooker attended the Welsh test of Ken Owens (35 e ) from the sidelines – after receiving a yellow card for a high tack – high tackle – , the Ecossais did not seem to be too worried. And for good reason: ultra-appreciated in defense and dominators in the duel, they seemed several classes above their opponents, and the second half has only strengthened this feeling.

The Finn Russell

A second half marked by the seal of Finn Russell. Capable of the best (often) as of the worst (sometimes), the number 10 of Scotland and Racing 92 was in a good day on Saturday, and distributed the caviars on the lawn of Murrayfield, in Edinburgh. The first to have benefited was Kyle Douglas Steyn. The Scottish winger marked a double, first by receiving a magnificent chistera pass from his opener to go flatten (52 e ), before waiting quietly on his wing than the kick Russell falls into his hands (58 e ).

The case then seemed to be heard, but Russell had not finished distributing the gifts to his teammates. If his kick was imprecise against the poles (two missed attempts), he was much more effective in the game, attests to his pass for Duhan Van der Merwe on the test a few moments later by Blair Kinghorn (72 E ). The Scottish conductor finally finished his recital with a last pass screwed in the hands of the third Matt Fagerson, who only had to bend down to score (79 e ).

Unable to score despite many attempts, the Welsh people live a Calvary in this beginning of the Six Nations. The Toulonnais teammates Dan Biggar chain a second consecutive slap after that received at home against Ireland (34-10) and head for a new disappointing tournament, they who had finished penultimate from the 2022 edition. Far from These considerations, the Scottles start to dream of a new trophy, twenty-four years after their last victory in the tournament which was then of the five nations.
