Release of open engine Heroes of Might and Magic 2 – Fheroes2 10 February

Available release of the Fheroes2 1.0.1 project, which recreates the Heroes of Might and Magic II game engine from zero . The project code is written on C ++ and is distributed under the license gplv2. To launch the game, files with game resources are required that can be obtained, for example, from the demo version of Heroes of Might and Magic II or from the original game.

Main changes:

  • A significant part of the code for creating a future editor of cards.
  • various animations in battle have been corrected: the priority of drawing the effects of mass spells, the reactions of creatures to low morality, the damage from mass spells and attacks in the region, the story of the shot, the flight of arrows, the starting and final position of the projectile, the movement of some creatures.


  • Added support for scaling the screen resolution for a more convenient game in window mode without loss of clearing due to smoothing.


  • In a separate application for Android, tools for loading demo versions, unpacking of original resources, as well as for administration of conservations are added.

  • Optimization to accelerate rendering and reduce energy consumption.
  • I improved the design of the symbols of the Russian alphabet, for a more compact display of the text on the game buttons.
  • Improved translation into Russian and many other languages.
  • Corrected over 40 errors.
