“The children of my clients were 6 and 8 years old at the time of the first complaint. They are now 31 and 33 years old.” For M e Olivier Morice, who defends a family, Civil party, Wednesday, February 8 will perhaps be the end of a long, very long judicial path: almost twenty-five years after the first reports, the Créteil court must judge five defendants, including an association, in the case From the Aubert Institute, a private school in Vincennes (Val-de-Marne) accused of having applied the principles of Scientology, without the parents of school students having been informed.

A quarter of a century for justice to decide a case of “deception”, “concealed work” and “concealment”, which nevertheless presents “no particular complexity”, estimates the lawyer, for whom this file is the Illustration of “legal mistreatment” regularly denounced by the actors of justice. He has just written to the Keeper of the Seals to request an investigation by the General Inspectorate of Justice on these dysfunctions.

It was the town hall of Vincennes which made the first reports to the prosecution concerning the Aubert Institute, in the fall of 1998. Located in a bourgeois house in a certain state of dilapidation, this private establishment outside the contract, which counts About sixty students, has just been bought by several people, including a couple who previously run the School of Awakel, another institution linked to Scientology, closed in 1997 following legal action .

close control of the establishment

The preliminary survey makes the observation of numerous “irregularities”, both in the presentation of the establishment and in the lessons provided: employees without adequate diplomas, dilapidated premises, practices borrowed from SCIErtology as “assistance by Touching “to treat children’s sores … The establishment is the subject of an administrative closure in 1999. At the same period, parents of students were civil party: they consider themselves victims of deception, they were unaware ‘Obedience of the establishment. A first judicial information is opened in April of that same year.

The first in a long series: in total, ten investigating judges have been entrusted with this file over the years. From 2001 to 2006, seven officials of the Institute were indicted, for most executives of Scientology. The hearings confirm the close control of the establishment by Scientology, to which the Aubert Institute sometimes pays funds. However, “in a surprising way”, quips M e Morice, the prosecution requires not questioning several natural or legal persons, on the grounds … of the extremely long duration of this procedure.
