In January, GTA Online users experienced nightmares because of a dishonest hacker who took advantage of the vulnerability in the game client to steal game money and block player accounts. In addition, according to the creator of the unofficial firewall Guardian, vulnerability allowed hackers to launch malicious programs on computers with a running game from afar.
Rockstar studio quickly localized the problem and released an update to eliminate the exploit. The update introduces a new data protocol, thereby improving the safety of Internet sessions and messaging between players. Also, the developers have banned the possibility of dropping game progress by third parties, made changes to the financial system and characteristics of the characters. In addition, the update also includes other minor improvements in stability and performance.
The developers noted that the update cannot completely exclude scammers from the game. Players can still face them in a public lobby, so you should be careful.
