HDR support for Vulkan has been added to Wine

The VULKAN DRAVER code for Wine added support VULKAN-BRIED swapchain ) vulkan. The proposed Wine patch is necessary for working with HDR in games based on the graphic API Vulkan, such as Doom Eternal, as well as in games based on the GPI Direct3D with HDR support using DXVK or VKD3D-Proton, which “on the fly” transform Direct3D calls to vulkan system calls.

Valve has already used the proposed patch in its PROTON assembly based on Wine, but now it has officially become part of the Wine 8.1+, and then it will be part of the stable version of Wine 9.0, which is expected in January 2024. The development is carried out by Valve as part of the HDR-IGR support project, which is currently limited by the Gamescope composite server, which is developed and used to launch games on the Steam Deck portable gaming console. Currently, in all other composite servers for Wayland, including GNOME MATTER and KDE Kwin, there is no HDR support and there is no exact data when such support will appear in them. The appearance of HDR support for X.org is evaluated as unlikely, since the development of the X11 protocol has been terminated in recent years and the development is limited to escort.
