Riot Games announces large cyber attack, source code of game is stolen

Riot Games studio published an open letter to fans in which they reported a large cyber attack that occurred last week. Hackers stole the source code of the League of Legends, Teamfight Tactics games and other studio projects, as well as an outdated version of antitheism.

Recall, a few days ago, Riot Games, the developer and publisher of the video game, from the wing of which such industry titans as League of Legends and Valorant came out, said that it would postpone the release of game patches for a number of its products. The reason is that its internal development environment was compromised.

The first problem is that the disclosure of the source code can lead to an increase in the number of cheat activities (Riot Games has already prepared corrections). The studio also fears that the source code obtained illegally contains some experimental functions.

Riot Games added that he hopes someday releasing some modes and changes for players. However, most of the content is in the prototype stage and there are no guarantees that it will ever be released.

hackers require a ransom for the information that they received as a result of the attack. Cybersecks are threatened to upload data into open access if their requirements are not fulfilled. Riot Games decided not to compromise and turned to law enforcement agencies for help. The company warns that as a result of this action there may appear more cheats in the games of League of Legends, Valorant and other projects.

Riot Games announced that they would give more detailed information about cyberataka later. They intend to reveal the consequences of hacking and how exactly the hackers were able to penetrate the server of the company.
