State Duma Committee supported bill, which offers to confiscate property of hackers

The State Duma Committee on State Construction and Legislation approved a bill at a meeting on Monday, which provides for the confiscation of property received as a result of cybercriminals for the first reading.

Earlier, a group of deputies, headed by the chairman of the State Duma Committee on Security and Combating Corruption by Vasily Piskarev and Senator Andrei Klishas, ​​amended the Criminal Code to the State Duma, the Cabinet approved the project taking into account the comments.

Vasily Piskarev said that recently you can observe the growth of computer crime and fraud in the credit and financial sphere, which leads to losses for citizens, especially the elderly.

In 2021, 6,354 crimes were committed related to computer information, as indicated in the data of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, including: illegal access to computer information, the creation, use and distribution of malicious programs, violation of the rules of storage, processing or transfer of computer information or information and telecommunication networks, illegal impact on the cryptic information infrastructure of the Russian Federation.
