Four members of the extreme right militia “Oath Keepers” were found guilty on Monday, January 23, of sedition for their role in the Capitole assault, after the second trial organized on this extremely charging charge Rare.

Nearly a thousand people have been arrested, then charged, since the attack on January 6, 2021. In the absence of a sufficient space in the Washington Federal Court, justice organized the trial of the Oath Keepers, accused of having trained and armed for the occasion, in two stages. A first trial ended in late November with a mixed verdict: the founder of this militia, Stewart Rhodes, and a local official were declared guilty of sedition, but their three co -accused were acquitted on this chief.

Monday, at the end of the second trial, the jurors deemed the last four oath keepers, men aged 38 to 64 years described as dangerous “traitors” by the accusation, but like “fanfoons” by their lawyers. The trial of the Proud Boys, including their leader Enrique Tarrio, opened in December and was still underway on Monday, in the same court.
