Sixth Gen KDE Slimbook Laptops Unveiled by KDE Project

The KDE project has introduced the sixth generation of laptops under the KDE SLIMBOOK brand. The KDE Slimbook VI was a collaborative effort between the KDE community and the Spanish supplier of Slimbook equipment. This laptop is powered by KDE Plasma 6 desktop, KDE Neon system based on Ubuntu, and comes with a selection of free applications such as Krita, Blender, Freecad, and Kdenlive. The default graphic environment uses the Wayland protocol. All software and updates for the KDE Slimbook are thoroughly tested by KDE developers to ensure stability and compatibility.

The new KDE Slimbook VI features a 16-inch screen with a resolution of 2560×1600 and a 16:10 aspect ratio. It is equipped with an AMD Ryzen 7 8845HS processor (8 cores, 16 threads, 3.8-5.1GHz) and AMD Radeon 780M GPU (12 cores RDNA 3, 2700 MHz). The laptop comes with various ports including 2 USB-C 3.2 ports, DisplayPort 1.4, three USB-A 3.2 ports, HDMI, WiFi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, and four speakers. It also has a physically disconnected HD webcam. The device supports up to 96GB of RAM and 8TB SSD storage. The laptop’s dimensions are 356.6 x 248.5 x 20.3mm, weighing 1.85 kg. It boasts a battery life of 12 hours and is priced at 1099 euros.
