The stable Channel has announced the release of Chrome OS 128, an operating system based on the Linux core, EBUILD/Portage assembly tools, and Chrome 128 Browser. The Chrome OS environment is focused on web applications instead of traditional programs. Despite this, it features a complete multi-point interface, desktop, and taskbar. Screen output is achieved through the graphic stack Freon and the window manager aura. Distribution of source texts is under the Apache 2.0 license. Chrome OS 128 is available for most relevant Chromebook models, with Chrome OS Flex for use on regular computers.
Main changes in Chrome OS 128 include the introduction of Snap Groups, which allow users to group two windows together, resize them simultaneously, and move them as a single entity. Click here for more information and images.
