Vanir Locker Vanishes from Darknet in German Sweep

German law enforcement agencies have shut down the website of the Vanir Locker Extractor group, as reported by the Online Press Portal.

The site first emerged in July, when the attackers exposed the data of three victims, one of them being a German company. The investigation was initiated in June, and by August 2024, authorities were able to trace the server responsible for hosting the site on the internet.

Tor, known as an anonymous network, facilitates secure data transfer through encrypted channels. While it is commonly utilized by regular individuals to maintain privacy or access restricted content, cybercriminals also exploit Tor to cover their tracks and evade law enforcement scrutiny.
