Collabora has recently announced a major development in the implementation of GPU support for ARM MALI based on the V10 microarchitecture in the PanVK driver. This driver provides support for the graphic API VULKAN. The changes that have been accepted in the main branch of the Mesa project now allow open drivers to be used on systems with GPU ARM Mali-G610 and Mali-G310.
However, it is important to note that the support is still in its early stages. The Panvk driver itself and the code added for ARM V10 are not yet considered ready for widespread use. This means that some applications may not launch properly, and support is currently limited to VULKAN 1.0.
The implementation of GPU support for ARM MALI V10 microarchitecture in the PanVK driver marks a significant step forward in expanding the capabilities of open drivers for ARM systems. As development continues, it is expected that the support will become more stable and widely applicable in the future.
