Billionaire and co-founder of Oracle Larry Ellison shared his vision of the future, highlighting the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) into a comprehensive surveillance system. Ellison, speaking at a meeting with financial analysts from Oracle, expressed how AI will revolutionize the way citizens are monitored, suggesting that constant surveillance will lead individuals to “behave in the best way” due to the awareness of being constantly watched.
Ellison elaborated on how AI will be deployed to oversee various video surveillance systems, including security cameras, police body cameras, video intercoms, and cameras installed in vehicles. The plan entails continuous monitoring by each camera, with AI promptly alerting authorities in case of any issues, thereby ensuring a high level of control over both the police and citizens.
The use of AI is expected to alter police operations significantly, as Ellison proposed the idea of replacing police cars with AI-equipped drones for pursuits. He emphasized that autonomous drones could efficiently track down offenders, eliminating the risks associated with dangerous chases for law enforcement. Whether these pursuits will be broadcast on television remains unanswered.
Oracle, like several other major tech companies, is actively investing in AI-related projects. Collaborating with SpaceX’s Elon Musk, Oracle is at the forefront of developing innovative technologies. Ellison emphasized the increasing influence of AI across various sectors and affirmed Oracle’s commitment to embracing and adapting to these transformative changes.
With an estimated wealth of $157 billion, Larry Ellison ranks sixth on Bloomberg’s list of the world’s wealthiest individuals.
