The Nginx project has announced a significant development, with the transition of their development work from the version control system Mercurial to GIT. In addition, they have moved their official repository to Github and are now utilizing platforms like Github Issues and Github Discussions for tracking issues and discussions, instead of Trac.nginx.org and mailing lists. The shift to Github is expected to streamline collaboration with the community and encourage more third-party developers to participate in the project.
To facilitate collaboration and the exchange of changes from other contributors, the project has implemented the use of pull requests on Github. The Trac.nginx.org error tracking system has been converted to read-only mode. To allow developers and users time to adjust to the new platform, the project will continue to accept patches and provide support through mailing lists until December 31st, in addition to using Github.
