Q4OS 5.6 Released with Trinity Desktop Environment

The latest release of the distribution Q4OS 5.6 has been published, based on the DEBIAN package base and supplied with KDE Plasma 5 and Trinity (continuing the development of the KDE 3.5.x code base). Both user environments can coexist simultaneously in one system, with the user able to switch between them. The distribution is known for being undemanding on hardware resources and offers a classic desktop design. The size of the loading image is 1.5 GB (x86_64). The composition includes various applications such as ‘Desktop Profiler’ for quick software installation, ‘setup utility’ for third-party applications, ‘Software Center’ for additional programs, ‘WelCome Screen’ for easy initial setup, Lookswitcher for appearance switching, and scripts for alternative environments LXQT, XFCE, and LXDE. The new release includes an update to Debian 12.7 with the Linux 6.1.0-25 core. The Calamares installer now allows the loading of its own profiles, determining the set of packages and installation applications selected by the user. The Q4OS Setup configurator and Desktop Profiler installer for application sets have also been enhanced. Updates have been made to the Shim boot layer and GRUB bootloader in Live devices.
