Hackers’ Spamouflage Tactics Sway U.S. Political Views

Leading up to the 2024 US presidential election, the Chinese arm of Spamouflage has intensified its activities. A recent report by research company Graphika has uncovered links to Chinese entities involved in spreading misinformation with the aim of sowing discord within American society. The primary objective is to exacerbate social and political divisions, influencing public perception on crucial issues such as gun control, homelessness, drug addiction, and racial inequality.

Graphika researchers have identified 15 fake accounts operating on the platform X. X, a popular social media platform where users can post public messages and interact with others, boasts a significant global audience and consistently ranks among the top 10 most visited sites.

It’s worth noting that X has been banned in Russia due to repeated breaches of local laws and regulations. Despite its widespread popularity elsewhere, the platform has faced legal challenges in certain jurisdictions, including Russia.
