The Ministry of Education of Guatemala recently confirmed a cyber attack on its IT systems, as announced on their Instagram page. While the attack caused disruptions, fortunately, no student or employee data was compromised.
Following the discovery of the attack, immediate measures were taken to ensure the continuity of support programs, salary payments, and normal operations of the ministry. Efforts are now focused on restoring full functionality of the systems and implementing preventive measures to avoid similar incidents in the future.
In response to the attack, the Ministry has filed a formal complaint and issued a warning urging the public to refrain from spreading unverified or false information regarding the incident.
