Avtech Cameras’ 0-Day Flaw Revives Mirai Botnet

In a recent discovery by Akamai, it has been found that a new wave of attacks is targeting outdated video surveillance chambers manufactured by Avtech in Taiwan. The attackers are taking advantage of a critical vulnerability in the AVM1203 model, spreading harmful malware in the process.

The botnet known as Mirai was initially identified in August 2016 and has since been utilized in various powerful and destructive Distributed Denial of Service (DDOS) attacks.
