Ubuntu 24.04.1 LTS Released

Canonical has announced the release of ubuntu 24.04.1 LTS, the first corrective release of the distribution. This update includes fixes for hundreds of vulnerabilities and problems, enhancing stability. The new version also addresses issues with the installer and the bootloader. Ubuntu 24.04.1 LTS signifies the basic stabilization of the long-term support release, and users of the previous LTS version, Ubuntu 22.04, are encouraged to update to the 24.04 branch.

Similar updates have been released for other Ubuntu variants such as Ubuntu Budgie 24.04.1 LTS, Kubuntu 24.04.1 LTS, Ubuntu Mate 24.1 LTS, Ubuntu Studio 24.04.1 LTS, Lubuntu 24.04.1 LTS, Ubuntu Kylin 24.04.1 LTS, and XIBUNTU 24.04.1 LTS. These new releases are recommended for fresh installations, while existing configurations of Ubuntu 24.04 will receive the updates through standard system updates. Support for updates and security fixes for Ubuntu 24.04 LTS will be available until April 2029, with an additional 7 years of support for Ubuntu Pro users.

The latest release includes updates to GNOME packages, Mesa, NVIDIA graphics drivers, Snapd, and more. The Linux-Firmware package now supports DCN 3.5 for AMD GPUs, and improvements have been made for the RISC-V platform. Experimental support for Ubuntu-Core-Desktop installation images has been introduced, along with fixes for issues like the network download of the Ubuntu Desktop installer. The upcoming release, ubuntu 24.04.2, is expected to integrate new kernel versions, drivers, and graphic components imported from the Ubuntu 24.10 release.
