Zuckerberg: Meta Faces US Pressure, Censorship

Mark Zuckerberg recently claimed that the Biden administration pressured Meta to censor content related to Covid-19 during the pandemic. This allegation was outlined in a letter addressed to the US House of Representatives. In the letter, Zuckerberg expressed remorse for not pushing back against the pressure sooner and highlighted several content removal decisions.

Zuckerberg stated that in 2021, White House officials had been persistently pushing Meta, the parent company of Facebook, to take down certain content. This revelation sheds light on the tightrope that social media platforms walk between free speech and the responsibility to curb misinformation.
